![]() ![]() Update: Konami has come forward with an official statement saying that the release date of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain posted on Microsoft Store is just a placeholder and that we shouldn't wait for the game in February. If you haven’t picked up the prologue to The Phantom Pain yet, we suggest checking out our Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes review first. Obviously, the game can be delayed by a few weeks, as it happened with quite a few AAA titles this year, but there’s nothing to point to that course of action. Kojima Productions is yet to comment on the new information, but since the Februrelease date has been confirmed from multiple sources, there’s a high chance that this information is 100% accurate. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain may be launched in Europe one day later, though we don’t have any confirmation on this one yet. Keep in mind that the Februrelease date is only for the United States. The release date has been confirmed by a Microsoft rep as wellĭuring a conversation with a Metal Gear Solid fan, a Microsoft employee confirmed that this is not a placeholder that The Phantom Pain will indeed release on February 24, 2015.Īdditionally, the official release date of the game has been confirmed in several retail stores, but it has yet to be displayed for the public. This is not the case here, as the Februrelease date has been confirmed by a Microsoft rep as well. The games position in the Metal Gear timeline is later than any of the other prequel titles, so it may be a prologue to Metal Gear, Metal Gear 2, and the Solid series which followed. Usually, when a new release date is attached to an upcoming game, it’s usually a place holder that gets changed closer to the actual launch. This offer is valid until January 31, 2015, while supplies last. The game is available for purchase for $59.99 and those who pre-order Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain for Xbox One will also receive a $10 Xbox gift card digital code. According to the game’s page on Microsoft Store, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain for Xbox One will be released on February 25, 2015. The information has been confirmed by the game’s listing on Microsoft Store, PCGameN reports. ![]() Although Kojima Productions confirmed a tentative release date for Q2 2015, it looks like fans will be able to continue Snake’s adventures starting February. The cherry on the cake is the fact that Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will be launched earlier than expected. The action starts in 1984, with the release of the coma of the main character of the series - Solid Snake. Forms a coherent picture with the prologue released a little earlier - Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes. The successful launch of Ground Zeroes, the prologue for Kojima’s much larger Metal Gear V: The Phantom Pain game, on PC was just a small slice of the cake (a 1-hour-long one). The plot taking place in this game becomes a prequel to the very first game in the universe - Metal Gear.
